Explain GOD..

When given a third-grade homework assignment to “EXPLAIN GOD,” this is what 8-year-old, Danny Dutton of Chula Vista, CA, had to say. How many readers here could honestly do as well? Explain God– By Danny Dutton, 8 years old, Chula Vista, CA

One of God’s main jobs is making people. He makes them to replace the ones that die, so there will be enough people to take care of things on earth. He doesn’t make grown-ups, just babies. I think because they are smaller and easier to make. That way He doesn’t have to take up His valuable time teaching them to talk and walk. He can just leave that to mothers and fathers.

God’s second most important job is listening to prayers. An awful lot of this goes on, since some people, like preachers and things, pray at times besides bedtime. God doesn’t have time to listen to the radio or TV because of this.

God sees everything and hears everything and is everywhere, which keeps Him pretty busy. So you shouldn’t go wasting His time by going over your Mom and Dad’s head asking for something they said you couldn’t have.

Atheists are people who don’t believe in God. I don’t think there are any in Chula Vista. At least there aren’t any who come to our church.

Jesus is God’s Son. He used to do all the hard work like walking on water and performing miracles and people finally got tired of Him preaching to them and they crucified Him. But He was good and kind, like His Father, and He told His Father that they didn’t know what they were doing and to forgive them and God said “O.K.” His Dad (God) appreciated everything that He had done and all His hard work on earth so, He told Him He didn’t have to go out on the road anymore. He could stay in heaven. So He did. And now He helps His Dad out by listening to prayers and seeing things which are important for God to take care of and which ones He can take care of Himself without having to bother God. Like a secretary, only more important. You can pray anytime you want and, they are sure to help you because they got it worked out so one of them is on duty all the time.

You should always go to church on Sunday because it makes God happy, and if there’s anybody you want to make happy, it’s God. Don’t skip church to do something you think will be more fun like going to the beach. This is wrong. And besides the sun doesn’t come out at the beach until noon anyway.

If you don’t believe in God, besides being an atheist, you will be very lonely, because your parents can’t go everywhere with you, like to camp, but God can. It is good to know He’s around you when you’re scared in the dark or when you can’t swim and you get thrown into real deep water by big kids.

But… you shouldn’t just always think of what God can do for you. I figure God put me here and He can take me back anytime He pleases.

And… that’s why I believe in God.

————

Keep these thoughts with you throughout the coming years!

1. If God had a refrigerator, your picture would be on it.

2. If He had a wallet, your photo would be in it.

3. He sends you flowers every spring and a sunrise every morning.

4. Whenever you want to talk, He’ll listen.

5. He could live anywhere in the universe, and He chose your heart.

6. What about the Christmas gift He sent you in Bethlehem, not to mention that Friday at Calvary.

Face it, He’s crazy about you.

Do You Believe in Easter??

Edith Burns was a wonderful Christian who lived in San Antonio, Texas. She was the patient of doctor by the name of Will Phillips. Dr. Phillips was a gentle doctor who saw patients as people. His favorite patient was Edith Burns.

One morning he went to his office with a heavy heart and it was because of Edith Burns. When he walked into that waiting room, there sat Edith with her big black Bible in her lap earnestly talking to a young mother sitting beside her. Edith Burns had a habit of introducing herself in this way: “Hello, my name is Edith Burns. Do you believe in Easter?” Then she would explain the meaning of Easter, and many times people would be saved. Dr. Phillips walked into that office and there he saw the head nurse, Beverly.

Beverly had first met Edith when she was taking her blood pressure. Edith began by saying, “My name is Edith Burns. Do you believe in Easter?” Beverly said, “Why yes I do.” Edith said, “Well, what do you believe about Easter?” Beverly said, “Well, it’s all about egg hunts, going to church, and dressing up.” Edith kept pressing her about the real meaning of Easter, and finally led her to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. Dr. Phillips said, “Beverly, don’t call Edith into the office quite yet. I believe there is another delivery taking place in the waiting room. After being called back in the doctor’s office, Edith sat down and when she took a look at the doctor she said, “Dr. Will, why are you so sad? Are you reading your Bible? Are you praying?” Dr. Phillips said gently, “Edith, I’m the doctor and you’re the patient.” With a heavy heart he said, “Your lab report came back and it says you have cancer, and Edith, you’re not going to live very long.” Edith said, “Why Will Phillips, shame on you. Why are you so sad? Do you think God makes mistakes? You have just told me I’m going to see my precious Lord Jesus, my husband, and my friends. You have just told me that I am going to celebrate Easter forever, and here you are having difficulty giving me my ticket!” Dr. Phillips thought to himself, “What a magnificent woman this Edith Burns is!” Edith continued coming to Dr. Phillips.

Christmas came and the office was closed through January 3rd. On the day the office opened, Edith did not show up. Later that afternoon, Edith called Dr. Phillips and said she would have to be moving her story to the hospital and said, “Will, I’m very near home, so would you make sure that they put women in here next to me in my room who need to know about Easter.” Well, they did just that and women began to come in and share that room with Edith. Many women were saved. Everybody on that floor from staff to patients were so excited about Edith, that they started calling her Edith Easter; that is everyone except Phyllis Cross, the head nurse.

Phyllis made it plain that she wanted nothing to do with Edith, because she was a “religious nut.” She had been a nurse in an army hospital. She had seen it all and heard it all. She was the original G.I. Jane. She had been married three times, she was hard, cold, and did everything by the book. One morning the two nurses who were to attend to Edith were sick. Edith had the flu and Phyllis Cross had to go in and give her a shot. When she walked in, Edith had a big smile on her face and said, “Phyllis, God loves you and I love you, and I have been praying for you.” Phyllis Cross said, “Well, you can quit praying for me, it won’t work. I’m not interested.” Edith said, “Well, I will pray – and I have asked God not to let me go home until you come into the family.”

Phyllis Cross said, “Then you will never die because that will never happen,” and curtly walked out of the room. Every day Phyllis Cross would walk into the room and Edith would say, “God loves you Phyllis and I love you, and I’m praying for you.” One day Phyllis Cross said she was literally drawn to Edith’s room like a magnet would draw iron. She sat down on the bed and Edith said, “I’m so glad you have come, because God told me that today is your special day.” Phyllis Cross said, “Edith, you have asked everybody here the question, ‘Do you believe in Easter?’ but you have never asked me.” Edith said, “Phyllis, I wanted to many times, but God told me to wait until you asked, and now that you have asked…” Edith Burns took her Bible and shared with Phyllis Cross the Easter Story of the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Edith said, “Phyllis, do you believe in Easter? Do you believe that Jesus Christ is alive and that He wants to live in your heart?” Phyllis Cross said, “Oh, I want to believe that with all of my heart, and I do want Jesus in my life.” Right there, Phyllis Cross prayed and invited Jesus Christ into her heart. For the first time Phyllis Cross did not walk out of a hospital room, she was carried out on the wings of angels. Two days later, Phyllis Cross came in and Edith said, “Do you know what day it is?” Phyllis Cross said, “Why Edith, it’s Good Friday.” Edith said, “Oh, no, for you every day is Easter. Happy Easter Phyllis!”

Two days later, on Easter Sunday, Phyllis Cross came into work, did some of her duties and then went down to the flower shop and got some Easter lilies because she wanted to go up to see Edith and give her some Easter lilies and wish her a Happy Easter. When she walked into Edith’s room, Edith was in bed. That big black Bible was on her lap. Her hands were in that Bible. There was a sweet smile on her face. When Phyllis Cross went to pick up Edith’s hand, she realized Edith was dead. Her left hand was on John 14: “In my Father’s house are many mansions. I go to prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also.”

Her right hand was on Revelation 21:4, ” And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes, there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying; and there shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.” Phyllis Cross took one look at that dead body, and then lifted her face toward heaven and, with tears streaming down her cheeks, said, “Happy Easter, Edith – Happy Easter!” Phyllis Cross left Edith’s body, walked out of the room, and over to a table where two student nurses were sitting. She said, “My name is Phyllis Cross. Do you believe in Easter?”

What Will You Choose??

Choose my instruction instead of silver, knowledge rather than choice gold, for wisdom is more precious than rubies, and nothing you desire can compare with her. “I, wisdom, dwell together with prudence; I possess knowledge and discretion. Proverbs 8:10-12

Have you ever imagine God asking you the golden question – “ask whatever you want”. What will your answer be? God, I want a sports car. God, I want a bungalow. God, I want a good job. God, I want a husband. God, gives me lots of money. God, come and solves my problem. God…..

In fact, this was what God asked Solomon in the Old Testament. Guess what was Solomon’s answer? He said “God, give your servant a discerning heart to govern your people and to distinguish between right and wrong”. Wow… Solomon’s answer pleased God. So God said “Since you have asked for this and not for long life or wealth for yourself, nor have asked for the death of your enemies but for discernment in administering justice, I will do what you have asked. I will give you a wise and discerning heart, so that there will never have been anyone like you, nor will there ever be. Moreover, I will give you what you have not asked for—both riches and honor—so that in your lifetime you will have no equal among kings. And if you walk in my ways and obey my statutes and commands as David your father did, I will give you a long life.”

There is an important message about Solomon’s answer which we can learn; ask God for “THE BLESSING” (which is the wisdom of God). With “THE BLESSING”, we are able to receive many other blessings (riches, honor and long life). That is why Solomon encouraged us to choose instruction instead of silver, knowledge rather than choice gold and wisdom, which is more precious than rubies.

The Auction

The upstate NY man was rich in almost every way. His estate was worth millions. He owned houses, land, antiques and cattle. But though on the outside he had it all, he was very unhappy on the inside. His wife was growing old, and the couple was childless. He had always wanted a little boy to carry on the family legacy.

Miraculously, his wife became pregnant in her later years, and she gave birth to a little boy. The boy was severely handicapped, but the man loved him with his whole heart. When the boy was five, his mom died. The dad drew closer to his special son. At age 13, the boys’s birth defects cost him his life and the father died soon after from a broken heart.

The estate was auctioned before hundreds of bidders. The first item offered was a painting of the the boy. No one bid. They waited like vultures for the riches. Finally, the poor housemaid, who helped raise the boy, offered $5 for the picture and easily took the bid. To every-one’s shock, the auctioneer ripped a hand written will from the back of the picture. This is what it said: “To the person who thinks enough of my son to buy this painting, to this person I give my entire estate.”

The auction was over. The greedy crowd walked away in shock and dismay.

How many of us have sought after what we thought were true riches only to find out later that our Father was prepared to give us His entire estate if we had only sought after His Son alone?

No Pain?? No GAIN !!

I received this wonderful email that is worth sharing with everyone.

no_pain1 no_pain2 no_pain3 no_pain4 no_pain5 no_pain6 no_pain7 no_pain8 no_pain9 no_pain10 no_pain11 no_pain12 no_pain13 no_pain14

I guess many want lot of gains without any pain! But that’s not possible! There is no shortcut! It has to be through the hard way. So accept the pain, face it courageously and don’t look for excuses.

If you are facing some challenges, problems and difficulties, don’t give up. I’m pretty sure SUCCESS will come if you persevere and never give up. All the best.

Will You Live Today??

AddThis

by Michael Guernsey, age 14

I woke up today,
And I saw my Lord.
He was standing there
And He asked me this question.
“Will you live today
The way I would?
Or will you laugh at me
In front of the world?”

In the car today,
I turned on the radio.
I started dancing to
A pretty cool song.
Then my Lord again,
He asked me His question.

“Will you live today
The way Jesus would?
Or will you laugh at Him,
In front of the world.”

And at school today,
I found myself,
Lookin’ at those girls,
And thinkin’ those thoughts
Then my Lord again,
He asked me His question.

And at the movies,
Sitting in line.
I couldn’t decide whether
I really should watch it.
Then my Lord again,
He asked me His question.

Then my Lord, He said to me.
That, it’s hard to live like He would.
But He said, “it’s worth all the pain,
For in heaven, you’ll receive your reward.”

Playerlessness

AddThis

Can you remember Jesus entered the temple area and drove out all who were buying and selling (Matthew 21:12-13)? He overturned the tables of money changer and benches of those selling doves.

The situation was then intense! Those at the temple probably were wondering what Jesus was up to. He was angry, upset and disappointed. He was so emotionally charged up that he overturned everything and drove the people out of the temple area

Why was Jesus so angry? I think the answer is straight forward, Jesus said “My house will be called a house of prayer, but you are making it a den of robbers.” Meaning the temple was not a place of prayer anymore but business.

The people have made the temple a place of buying and selling. There were so many happenings, activities, business transactions but NOT prayer taking place in the temple. The temple has lost each originally purpose of existence – a place of prayer. That is why Jesus was so angry and upset.

This incident speaks volume of our current situation – prayerlessness. The bible said, “Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God?” (1 Corinthians 6:19)

Do we allow too much things to pack our body – temple of the Holy Spirit? We are living in a very busy, hectic and fast-moving world. There are so many things in our families, works, ministry and church that needed our attention and concentration. Indeed, lots of things to solve and do but be careful ya!

Unknowingly, the enemy uses all these to lead the Christian and above all the minister to NEGLECT prayer. No time to pray! There are many urgent and pressing things to do! Well, do not get me wrong! I am not asking you not to handle them but I am saying you should not allow these things to take away your time to pray.

Even if you find some time to pray in the midst of your busyness, the enemy will still find his way to hinder you. Perhaps by temptation to postpone, by bringing in wandering thoughts and all sorts of distractions, through unbelief and hopelessness.

Coming back to the bible verses where Jesus was at the temple, how can you convert your life of prayerlessness to prayerfulness? Like Jesus, starts to see your temple as a house of prayer not a den of robbers. Regard this as the utmost important.

Next, drive out and overturn unnecessary activities, job responsibilities and events so that you have time to pray. Do a housekeeping also. Remove away unholy thoughts, ties and habits so that nothing can hinder your intimate relationship with God.

Pray, pray and pray. Remember, God’s child can conquer everything by prayer and the enemy will try to conquer God’s child by removing the most potent weapon on hand.
